Southern Hand Therapy

Fantastic experience: I have been to Southern Hand Therapy Kogarah twice over the past month and have had a very positive experience both times. My physiotherapist, George, is excellent. He is very professional, knowledgeable and thorough, and takes the time to listen, explain everything clearly and make sure you understand the treatment and exercises. The whole experience has been friendly and welcoming, and I have been very happy with the treatment and care I have received. I would highly recommend George and Southern Hand Therapy Kogarah.

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment with George this afternoon and I am most impressed. He is warm, friendly and he knows his stuff. I feel so much better about managing the arthritis I have in my thumb joint going forward. I left there with some strengthening exercises and a splint made specifically for me. I would have no hesitation recommending Southern Hand Therapy for anyone needing their expertise. Thank you George, I am sincerely grateful.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with the lack of communication from this clinic. Despite multiple requests, they have failed to send a treatment report back to my GP. Communication between allied health professionals and doctors is crucial for patient safety and continuity of care. The refusal or neglect to send a basic update is highly unprofessional. I will not be returning and cannot recommend a clinic that fails at basic administrative and clinical communication.

Negative experience: Proceed at your own risk is all I can say. I ended up back in a splint when nearly better by shockingly reckless behaviour from this business.

Fantastic experience: Sophie at Southern Hand Therapy has been an incredible help over multiple appointments. She is kind, patient, a good listener and is very thoughtful about choosing therapy (exercises and prophylactics) that are appropriate for my symptoms and my life. She also went above and beyond on a busy day before Christmas break to fit in one of my daughters after one of my appointments, and identified a buckle fracture. Overall a brilliant hand therapist and a lovely human. The practice is clean, friendly, organised and a short walk from public car park.

Fantastic experience: I broke my finger whilst playing sport roughly 6 months ago and required surgery. Despite the nuisance of this, what a blessing to stumble across George at Southern Hand Therapy. Whilst extremely knowledgeable, over this time I found George to be very personable which not only put me at ease during appointments, but was reassuring throughout my rehab journey. His professional care and rehab advice has been second-to-none. For all the allied health professionals I have come across, George has been a standout and I would not hesitate for a second to recommend anyone to him. Thank you for your care and dedication!

Fantastic experience: I had issues with my hand for roughly 6 months and I put off seeing someone about it but I’m very glad that I eventually saw someone about it. I saw Huy Nguyen at the Sutherland location. Huy is one of the best medical professionals I’ve seen. He has a calming presence and explains everything in depth. Within 2 months, I have no pain and within another month will likely have full range of motion with my hand again. So thank you Huy :)

Negative experience: Really unhappy about my experience here. Was told when walking into the shop that I could claim my session on physio so booked in an appointment only to be told afterwards that’s I couldn’t claim because I was booked with an OT. Not only that but the session was pathetic with a few basic exercises in a weird communal room which hasn’t addressed my problems and has put me out of pocket. Incredibly annoyed and feel deceived.

Fantastic experience: Found this place after researching specialist hand physios who have great reviews and a solid resume - this is how I came across George. I can safety say that he has exceeded my expectations. George’s knowledge, professionalism and competence coupled with his friendly demenour is unparalleled. George has made a massive difference within just a couple of sessions to my chronic knuckle injury due to boxing which has been bothering me for over 6 months. George was quickly able to identity the issue & provide straightforward solutions. I highly recommend George and cannot speak any more highly of him. I am forever grateful for coming across him!

Fantastic experience: I have been treated by both Haley Coleman and Sophie Marden at Southern Hand Therapy for Therapy following both of my Carpal Tunnel Release surgeries. They're both really friendly, welcoming, exceedingly knowledgeable and have successfully treated me in a short time frame on both occasions. Couple this with friendly and welcoming reception staff who are great communicators and make access to appointments easy, and you have a winner of a formula. Thanks again ladies for all of your help.

Fantastic experience: I worked with Hayley to rehabilitate my wrist after surgery to correct a fractured scaphoid. She was really friendly and knowledgeable. The exercises and stretches she gave me have returned me to full range of movement and strength. I was also given lots of help minimise the scar which has been really successful. In addition, the reception staff are so lovely and welcoming that a trip to Southern Hand Therapy is actually quite fun :-) Happy to give these guys the full 5* - they are fabulous!

Fantastic experience: George Kikilas was such an amazing hand physiotherapist, he not only got my fingers bending again within a couple days but is extremely caring. He was the only person after many doctor visits to notice an infection spreading in my fingers and sent me straight to the hospital, as well as checking up to ensure I was okay. The after care provided by him was perfect! Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Southern Hand Therapy in Dec 17 following a fractured wrist. I have been very happy with their professional approach and was made to feel comfortable and confident of a successful outcome. All the staff I have engaged with have gone out of their way to ensure I was looked after which ultimately led to surgical intervention. I highly recommend Southern Hand Therapy and in particular Hayley and George who have been very supportive.

Fantastic experience: My husband Byron consulted with George Kikilas (Referral Dr Mark Nabarro) on August 18. We found George to be informative, very professional & made Byron's visit very rewarding.

Negative experience: Too much talking not enough physiotherapy. I would not recommend them if you are suffering from sprains or strains in your hands. Their therapy consists of firstly being almost always 15 minutes late, then when you try to explain your pain they do not know what the issue is so they will make you feel bad by saying "oh I have never heard that before". If they are treating 4 fingers and you raise an issue with your thumb they will ignore it. It's extra to treat your second hand. The treatment as such is hand stretched they will do with you - 5 minutes, laser therapy on your hand 5 minutes and off you go!!!!! I honestly am so angry at what you guys have done to me- my rise has turned chronic because of your lack of duty of care. I WAS JUST A CASH COW TO YOU!!!!! I hope you feel great now as I am still off work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
